You can know a particular link is for pdf file or not, by placing your mouse pointer over the link, the status bar should indicate a filename ending in .pdf. If you have the acrobat plugin enabled in browser you can click the link to view the file. To download right click the link and select "Save Target As .." from the popup menu. Pdf format enables to print the content with original formatting, fast download and prevention from accidental change.
